Question: “Why would a physician support a yoga mobility and longevity program?”
Answer: Yoga is increasingly supported by research as an effective practice for enhancing joint mobility and promoting long-term musculoskeletal health. Studies indicate that regular yoga improves range of motion, flexibility, and joint lubrication through controlled, low-impact movements that take joints through their full functional range. These movements stimulate synovial fluid circulation, support cartilage nutrition, and help maintain connective tissue elasticity—key factors in joint longevity.
Research also shows yoga can reduce joint pain and stiffness, particularly in aging populations and individuals with osteoarthritis, while improving balance, muscle strength, and neuromuscular control, all of which protect joints from wear and injury over time.
